Siphuxolo sails with SA Agulhas

Siphuxolo Melamane from Masiphumelele recently completed a grade 11 Life Science project. To his astonishment and delight a delegate from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism visited his school to inform him that his project had won a prize.

Siphuxolo was one of five students from schools around the Western Cape who were selected to fly to Port Elizabeth and sail back with the SA Agulhas research vessel.

Apart from enjoying an amazing experience and his first ever aeroplane trip, Siphuxolo learnt how to measure dissolved oxygen in sea water during the three days aboard SA Agulhas.
