Students 2012 achievements honoured

The evening was opened with a short welcome by Mr Raymond Acker man. An inspirational speech centred around the “10000 hours of har d work “ rule for success ( to succeed at anything you have to put in the hours of practice) was given by Jonathan Ackerman, o ur Chairman. Following a delicious dinner, awards were presented for achievements in Education, Life skills and Golf.

The highlight of the evening is the Student of the Y ear award given to the student who excelled in all areas of the Academy. This year, the award was won by Lungelwa Mangesi. Lungelwa (or Lungi) lives with her mother in Masiphumelele. She joined the Academy in 2009 and following great results at Masiphumele High School Lungi was accepted into Fish Hoek High School to complete her secondary studies. The transfer between those two envir onments is not an easy one, but she embraced the challenge and is now scoring well in her school studies. On the golf course she has shown much determination; eagle eyed readers of this newsletter may r emember Lungi received a standing ovation for her gutsy performance at the year’s Clovelly Ladies Club Champs. Curr ently in Grade 11, Lungi has her sights set firmly on a car eer in Accounting and Finance.

Well done and congratulations to Lungi and all the RAGA winners.
