Visit from Matthew and Sonia Booth

Former Bafana Bafana star Matthew Booth, his wife Sonia and their two sons visited RAGA on 24 August to chat and interact with the students. The famous couple is passionate about youth development and has initiated and supported numerous projects.

They emphasised the importance of education; a career as a professional athlete can be short, and it’s important to equip yourself with knowledge and skills that are useful in a work environment. Both Matthew and Sonia spoke about the value of giving back; once you have achieved your goals and become successful, look at the needs around you and play an active role in society.

Matthew, who grew up in Fish Hoek, proved to be a solid golfer. Sonia has just started to play golf and received some useful tips from the enthusiastic RAGA girls. Apolisi and Siphuxolo got to practice their patience and teaching skills when instructing the young Booth boys.

RAGA would like to extend a big tank you to Sonia & Matthew for sharing their experiences and for giving advise to our students.
