Yanga Nompunga

ACADEMIC: GRADE 9 Masiphumele High School

Academic Progress:  Yanga is focussed and methodical in his approach to his school work. He is able to set realistic goals and devise strategies to achieve these.  He is able to listen to criticism and advice and incorporate this to improve his learning efforts.  He is very proud of his achievements in Economic Management Science and he hopes to improve even further.

Post-School Vision:  Yanga has an interest in chemistry.  He says he is good at mixing chemicals and enjoys experimenting.

GOLF: Handicap

Comment: Yanga is a keen student.He is always focused on improvement and on performing to the best  of his ability in every part of the game.Yanga has recently stepped out of his shell and has started asking more questions when he does not understand.Although during on-course lessons Yanga has struggled to hit the ball because of simply lifting his head which comes from excitement,Yanga is sure to improve once he practices more and keeps his head down.

LIFE SKILLS: President’s Award Bronze
Yanga received a note from the President’s Award Office thanking him for such a detailed Portfolio for his Bronze Award. For his Community Service Section Yanga got involved in his community cleaning up the streets, painting a neighbour’s house and volunteering at a Kids Safe House. For his Silver Community Service Yanga is helping out at The Mancendisana Day Care Centre in Masi twice a week. This he enjoys especially the smaller children in care.


Learning Public Speaking as his Bronze Skill helped Yanga so much during The Bronze Adventurous Journey. Not one to speak out at first, especially in English, Yanga soon found his voice and found a way to make himself heard. For his Silver Skill he is having extra academic lessons after school to improve his marks and is looking forward to the Silver Adventurous Journey in April 2017
